We Are In Danger
Our President publicly announced private medical information regarding Representative from Florida. A persons medical diagnosis is their own to share or not. He also took the opportunity to say that he had the man evaluated and treated by his own doctors and the man received surgery at Walter Reed Hospital.
Trump said, ”And just so you know, because I don’t want to have a terrible story about this. I did it for him first and for the vote second. But it was a close second, actually. But I did it for the vote second.” Why would he need to make that statement?
I believe it is uncontionable to share a persons medical diagnosis publicly. Maybe that’s just the nurse in me, but when someone is trying to wrap their head around a life threatening illness it is stressful enough without flooding them with questions from the public, and in this case, probably the media.
This was much less about support for a colleague and more about grand standing as the “good guy.” He definitely needs positive press right now, but he had no right to make a public statement about anyone’s illness, particularly when he is hiding his own debilitating dementia.
This news story also has the added bonus of deflecting attention from his unlawful war and partnership with Putin and Netanyahu.
Our President seems content in saying that more of our service members will die “until all goals are achieved.” Here’s the problem with that statement. He has yet to verbalize what the goals of this war are. It is impossible to achieve a goal that is not clearly stated. Then there must be an actionable plan and an end goal. What could that be? Bankrupt 80% of American families? Turn our leadership over to Putin? Retire to Mar a Lago and watch the rest of the country enter an economic depression?
Blindly sending troops because his power hungry buddies told him to is not a valid reason, does not help our standing with NATO, and is deplorable.. Our President lacks wisdom, morals, empathy and even an ounce of compassion.
This country has made many bad decisions since it was founded. We have learned through the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement, through Black Lives Matter, and the Me Too movement.
Native Americans have demonstrated repeatedly to protect their treaty rights They demonstrated on Mt Rushmore and Plymouth Rock in 1970. They went to Washington D.C in a protest called the trail of Broken Treaties in 1972. They called attention to the Wounded Knee massacre and protested the unsafe living conditions on the reservation there in 1973. In 1975 They took over the Bonneville Power building in Portland Oregon to protest the killing of Joseph Stuntz, a member of the American Indian Movement. In 1978 the “Longest Walk took place to call attention to Congress canceling the treaty obligations to tribes all across the country. In 1981 there was a demonstration to stop a dam being built in Arizona that would have flooded the reservation there. In 1992 the National Coalition of Racism in Sports Media was formed. It called attention to the use of the stereotypes of Native Americans used for sports mascot names and images. In 2004 there was a plan to develop the land on the San Francisco Peaks that was part of the spiritual practices of 13 surrounding tribes. The plan was to clear cut the area and build a pipeline for waste water and make artificial snow. Unfortunately, the snow resort was built. In 2011 The Keystone XL Pipeline project was protested. It would run from Canada to Nebraska. President Obama rejected the proposal.
President Trump is planning on approving it.
In 2013 the forest service decided to allow Uranium mining near ceremonial lands in Northern Arizona. It would also involve the Grand Canyon watershed causing environmental concerns. In 2016 The Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota members joined forces to protest another pipeline across their land which would endanger the water resources of the Missouri River. In 2018 there was another proposed pipeline that would cross the Ponca Trial Of Tears route and the gravesite of a Ponca toddler. Using corn from the last Ponca harvest, a local farmer planted a field directly in the path of the pipeline. The farmer then deeded the land to the tribe.
We have a long way to go to ensure every person in this country is treated with dignity and equality.
We need to prosecute every predator in the Epstein Files. Any official hiding that documentation should rightfully be removed from office and charges of obstruction brought against them.
I’m not sure the upcoming primaries will be enough to save us from our demented narcissistic leader. Our soldiers are being used as fodder in a dangerous game put in play by our nations’ long time enemy.
When the man in our nation’s highest office is mentally incapacitated and oblivious to reality, we are in danger. It’s time to circle the wagons and remove the threat.
